boisei leads €10M Series A for Strong by Form to scale transformative wood-based building products
09 September 2026
Strong by Form makes high-performance structural materials out of wood. Its technology platform, Woodflow, draws inspiration from the growth patterns and fiber orientation found in trees to construct lightweight products that are stronger than steel-reinforced concrete. Strong by Form develops materials for construction (Woodflow-core), interiors (Woodflow-skin), and mobility (Woodflow-motion) applications. boisei is thrilled to lead their Series A upon our conviction that Strong by Form products demonstrate clear economic & technical advantages as compared to concrete and steel, while markedly reducing carbon, waste footprints, and cost.

Disrupting the construction industry with Woodflow-core
Construction materials are among the hardest categories of goods to decarbonize. Because materials are selected based upon their strength, cost, and availability, concrete and steel are the current preferred options. Yet concrete and steel are among the largest sources of embodied carbon in the built environment, and buildings and construction together account for roughly a third of global energy and process-related CO2 emissions. Cement production alone is commonly estimated at 7–8% of global CO2 emissions. Sustainable alternatives to concrete and steel have circulated for decades, but most ask buyers to pay a ‘green premium' for lower performance, which confines them to niche, mission-driven projects rather than the mainstream market.
"Wood shouldn’t replace concrete and steel in construction just because it’s sustainable. It should be used because it’s a better product: lighter, materially more efficient, and competitive on price. That is what Woodflow-core is built to prove, and boisei understood it from our first conversation. This investment round gives us the backing we need to bring Woodflow-core directly into real buildings” - Andrés Mitnik, CEO and Co-founder, Strong by Form
The €5.8M first close of Strong by Form’s €10M Series A round positions the company’s Woodflow-core vertical to compete in the $120 billion global reinforced concrete slab market. Woodflow-core stands out as a first-of-its-kind structural slab designed to directly outperform concrete and steel without requiring a sustainability premium. By leveraging computational design and digital fabrication rather than chemical or physical compression, Strong by Form mimics natural tree growth by aligning structural fibers precisely where structural loads require them. This approach allows the material to match the strength and price of concrete and steel at 80% less weight, using low-grade wood residues and consuming up to 75% fewer trees than other engineered wood products.
With key operations based in Spain and Chile, Strong by Form will deploy the Series A capital to scale Woodflow-core manufacturing capacity across Europe, complete European structural certification, and drive commercial adoption across markets in Spain, France, Germany, and Switzerland to set the stage for subsequent global expansion. By offering a manufacturing platform that enhances margins for existing mass-timber producers, Strong by Form establishes a clear path to displace carbon-heavy building materials at scale.
Exciting growth verticals: Woodflow-skin and Woodflow-motion
Beyond structural slabs, Strong by Form's platform also powers Woodflow-skin, a lightweight architectural cladding featuring distinctive natural aesthetic profiles, and Woodflow-motion, which opens up scalable lightweighting solutions for vehicles, passenger trains, and more. These systems have already been commercialized across the US, UK, and Europe, and including a full-scale rail-interior mockup with the Netherlands’ Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) and a bio-inspired passenger shelter built with Deutsche Bahn’s DB mindbox, which was the company’s first structural project. Woodflow-motion is also being developed with automotive partners, including BMW Group, for lightweight vehicle components.
“We see massive potential represented by Woodflow-skin and Woodflow-motion. Our excitement about these verticals, which feature truly stunning designs and multitudes of potential applications, is very high. The success of any individual product in these lines, with a powerful transformative plus eye-catching design combination, would compound to additional Woodflow-skin and Woodflow-motion products and also back to the Woodflow-core growth story.” - George Perry, President and Founder, boisei labs
